My cat's automatic litter box recently stopped working and it's around 300$ for a replacement which we were thinking of doing. I thought I could take a look at it and see if I could try to fix it. I initially thought the motherboard traces were corroded and not making contact so I tried to reflow the solder but no luck. The motherboard and microcontroller pre-installed had no documentation or help guides other than contacting the company to buy a replacement. I decided to try if I can use a Wemos D1 Mini ESP8266 microcontroller to control it, and after many hours (6) later I present to you a polarity switching circuit using 3 SPDT relays, a step-down buck converter to convert the 18V power from the built-in power on the cat litter to 12V the relays could use. Then after a lot of trial and error I found the perfect transistor (2N2222) in my transistor kit to convert the 3.3v logic levels from the ESP8266 to the 12v or something that the relays can use. Some of my trouble could be avoided if I used the correct DPDT relay modules meant for this, but this is all I had on hand. It's not quite finished since I still need to hook up the 2 sensors and 2 end stops to make it safe of course, but it's coming along and now the hard part is down. In the end, I'm going to open source a schematic design and order a PCB to contain everything.

Eeeiii! First #scrapbook post. With the help of the sweetest, smartest co-workers here at HQ, I’ve been building a Slack cat bot in js using Bolt. I started by roughing out a design that is vastly beyond my current abilities, and that is based on the worst funniest personality traits of my IRL cat. github.com/karamassie/madcatbot A Cat currently lives in #the-litter-box only. It’s very shy, for now. So far, I’ve learned how to: • set up a bot using Slack’s API • use Replit; and then, • get my Slack tokens revoked by accidentally moving all my code to a public repo in GitHub • regenerate those, and put them in a non-uploaded file • Run my bot locally On the js side I’ve learned how to: • Set up which channel it is in • Get the bot to respond to certain words or phrases • Set up delays and randomization • Create ‘untriggered’ events (ie the bot does random things without provocation) • Have the bot react to users entering the channel

:nodejs: api-pathmaker is a module(ish?) that I made to write less code when you’re implementing an API in Node.js. It lets you model the request in object format and then make the request without having to define everything with an http library. I made it because I was tired of having to use a random API just for a few requests (for example, getting cat pictures) and the API doesn’t have a library, but you still want clean code. It’s kind of a mini-ship and it’s part of a larger project I’m making. GitHub & Download: github.com/yodaLightsabr/api-pathmaker

YESS!!! I finally deployed my sad cats API (ScaaS) to my Oracle Cloud Instance's public IP, I had to learn about Ingress rules, IPTABLES and ufw. I've failed so many times trying to do this oof. But seriously if I had figured out how to do it early, I wouldn't be able to learn so much! (But seriously I should've read oracle cloud's docs at first lol)

It converts minutes to seconds ⏰, with up to two decimal places in the outputted calculation :abacus: for extra precision, and minimized confusion. This program is opensource under an MIT license. Odd or Even? A :python: program, hosted on :replit:, which checks if a user's inputted integer is even or odd. My program has error checks, such as checking whether an inputted value is truly an integer; if not, it asks for new input, without breaking the entire code. Additionally, my program also asks users if they'd like to enter a new value and check if it is even or odd, after an integer is determined as odd or even; using loops. This program is :crazyblackstone-opensource:, under an MIT license; so you can hack :hacker-cat: and build on it however you'd like! Challenge Solved: bit.ly/3doBhCJ
